Introduction
An m/m historical fiction set in ancient Rome during the reign of the Emperor Trajan (AD 98-117). It starts in AD 107, a year after Rome defeated the kingdom of the Dacians. Dacia was located north of the Danube River in Eastern Europe (modern day Romania and Moldova).
During the two wars against the Dacians (AD 101-102; 105-106), Trajan's armies systematically and quickly destroyed the wealthy kingdom of Dacia. Roman victory resulted in unimaginable riches for Rome and thousands of Dacian slaves. Some Dacians did manage to escape death or enslavement by seeking refuge in the nearby mountains. Those that escaped were later called 'Free Dacians' by the Romans.
This fictional story focuses on master/slave relationships. The majority of the interactions are m/m, but there are implied m/f and f/f relationships as well, not to mention m/m/m scenes and other combinations.
Mature Content: sex (lots of sex), swearing, violence, character death, mild BDSM between masters, institutionalized slavery. Of course, there's also much love, laughter, forgiveness and friendship. Some scenes also include references to murder, rape, attempted rape, past child abuse, animal abuse, and mild torture, but these darker plot moments are only for character/story development and NEVER are used for erotic purposes.
Because this is set in ancient Rome, there is no possibility of general abolition of the institution of slavery. Slaves, however, can be freed by their masters. Some of the characters are my warped interpretations of actual people from Roman history (e.g., Trajan, Hadrian, Tacitus, Plotina, Sabina, etc.). Most of the main characters (Gaius Fabius, Maximus, Allerix, etc.) are completely original and never existed. While the plot is tied to recorded major historical events and prevailing cultural attitudes, the story is entirely fictional.
This is a work in progress. New chapters will be posted once a month (or sooner if possible).
